What Shah Rukh Khan Did In Hockey, Amitabh Bachchan Will Do In Football
It is known that Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in Sairat director Nagraj Manjule’s Bollywood debut. SpotboyE.com brings you what Big B will play in the film
In what can be termed as an interesting collaboration,
two-time National Award-winning Marathi filmmaker, Nagraj Manjule, has roped in
Amitabh Bachchan for his yet-untitled Bollywood debut.

Now, SpotboyE.com can tell you that this venture is going
to be a biopic on Vijay Barse, a retired school teacher (to be essayed by
Amitabh Bachchan), who is behind the initiative Slum Soccer –which uses
football to change the lives of hundreds of slum kids, helping them to
negotiate the harsh realities of a marginalised life with the game.
Team Nagraj has met
Barse in Pune. He has given an NOC. This implies that the film’s rights have
been bought and there is nothing unofficial about it.
Sources say that
Bachchan’s character will be somewhat similar to what Shah Rukh Khan played in
Chak De! India, which released in 2007.

Furthermore, Slum Soccer not only uses football to engage
with children but also supplement their education and impart social messages
like sanitation, life skills and gender equality.
Today, the initiative supports more than 10,000 boys and
girls across India. Many have gone on to find jobs in the police, railways and
banks, thanks to sports quotas in recruitment processes.
Marathi Filmmaker Nagraj Manjule
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Nagraj worked on the
script for a year-and-a-half before taking the script to Big B in January.
At a recent event, the 39-year-old filmmaker revealed
that he was a huge Bachchan fan and had decided to become a director while
enacting a few scenes as Bachchan from Ramesh Sippy’s classic Sholay, on stage.
And the admiration is mutual. Bachchan considers Nagraj a genius-director and
had applauded Sairat on social media. Alongside a poster of Sairat, Bachchan
wrote on Twitter, “Oh ...!! and saw the film ‘Sairat’, the Marathi wonder..
what a great cinematic experience... what a movie.”

It is also said that the veteran actor sent Nagraj a
personal letter after watching the film too.
Coming back to Nagraj’s Bollywood debut, considering the
filmmaker’s ability to tell simple stories in the most effective manner, we
wouldn’t be surprised if his association with Amitabh turns out to be a
memorable one.
